Haiti's Heart is a passionate group with a deep love for serving the people of Haiti. Although we are focused on humanitarian efforts, Haiti's Heart is a non-profit organization providing education and service through the arts and teaching trade skills to older children and adults who often have no options. In addition, we dedicate volunteered time and resources through our medical and dental excursions across the orphanages and villages in Haiti.

Haiti's Heart's mission is simple — it is based on respect and love for a culture that has experienced many difficulties. Haiti's culture is rich with creativity, ingenuity, and beauty, yet natural disasters, poverty, and political challenges have left children and adults without options to provide for themselves and their loved ones.
The Haitian people are bright, intelligent, and full of hope waiting for their opportunity to be self-reliant. Our services provide opportunities and trusted relationships with communities and people through the arts, service, and humanitarian efforts. We focus on community strengths! We teach trade skills and offer dental and medical excursions. We believe this: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." We ask volunteers to become students and learn much by engaging in this beautiful culture by serving through our humanitarian mission one Haitian Heart at a time.

We offer many types of trips depending on the needs we identify where we can make a difference. Our trips are often booked well in advance. If there is a need and we have willing participants, we can create additional service trips. We are always looking for volunteers of all ages who are willing to be students of a new culture and/or to share their talents. If any of this speaks to your heart, we would love to hear from you. Is it safe to participate in a humanitarian trip?
There is always risk when traveling, especially to third world countries. We do watch the political climate, weather forecasts, and any other possible risks factors, and will reschedule trips if we feel there is any danger to our teams. We have safety-based trip training modules that all participants must complete prior to travel.
How much does it cost to go on a humanitarian trip?
The cost varies depending on the specific trip purpose and the time of year. The cost range has been anywhere from $1,800 to $2,500 per person with a 7-day average length of stay. This covers airfare, in-country transportation, room and board.
Does helping sometimes hurt?
The answer is a big fat YES! Sometimes helping can hurt everyone. We require a "When Helping Hurts" training for every participant based on the book, When Helping Hurts. Our intent is to do good. With just a little knowledge, we can avoid some major mistakes and pitfalls to helping in third world countries.
